Bio

Cacophant is Jessie Mason; a prolific multi-genre electronic artist and musician based in Belper, Derbyshire. Originally exploding onto the music scene as the bassist of the Sheffield-based Sludge Metal trio Stonelung to a crowded basement in Liverpool, she is now making waves at the harder end of techno. Drawing inspiration from industrial soundscapes, hardcore, drum & bass, illbient, electronica and more, she fuses these elements into a unique and unmistakable sonic identity.

Cacophant started out as 50FTW (Fifty Foot Woman). Armed with drum machines, synthesizers, and live FX, she quickly became a staple of the Sheffield and Derby underground scenes, delivering relentless hardware-driven performances packed with raw energy and floor-shaking intensity. Her debut album 'Hard & Fast' was a no-holds-barred breakcore/gabber assault that set the tone for what was to follow.

Through her metamorphasis into Cacophant - the self-proclaimed Heirophant to The Cacophany - she has continued to evolve and refine her sound, experimenting with different production styles and genres, and playing live hardware and DJ sets to packed out dancefloors, eventually landing her with headline slots at various parties and events, including the Sheffield EMOM Afterparty and Mother Fhungus Festival.

She has also collaborated with a range of artists on remix projects, contributed to several charity compilations raising money for Palestine and trans support networks, and is one half of the incendiary live A/V hardware duo FISTING, whose punishing live performances are available on Mixcloud and YouTube.

Her latest album, Faces (out August 1st, 2025), marks a major milestone — a culmination of six months in the studio and over a decade in the music scene. It is her most refined work to date; a multi-genre exploration of the many masks we wear as we navigate the volatile social landscape of the modern era.

'That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Drum & Bass Producer', whilst tongue-in-cheek, is really my first attempt at creating a drum & bass track. I wanted to challenge myself to do something new with a lot of the tracks on the album; new genres, new elements, new compositions, new processes, new sounds... I love it, and I'm super happy to introduce 'Faces' with this.

New Album: 'Faces'

Cacophant - Faces (Album Art)

"Faces" is a wild electronic journey through the many masks we wear as we navigate the volatile social landscape of the modern era. It is my most personal album to date, and truly a culmination of everything I've learned, everything I've experienced, every success and every failure along my journey that brought me to this place.

Each track stands as an emotional avatar created with the intention to capture a mood, a vibe, a sensation, a fleeting moment of joy or quiet reflection, or simply an artist's struggle to be heard in a universe which grows ever louder.

Shifting between brutalist industrial textures, surging drum & bass, hard techno precision, and moments of fragile reflection, Faces is a high-voltage exploration of identity in flux.

Every sound, every drop, every distortion is a face—familiar, yet always changing. If you've ever felt like a thousand people all at once, Faces is for you.

Dance, express yourself, feel everything... Life is hard, so live it harder.

'Faces' comes out August 1st, 2025. Available for pre-order now.
